Major Cities and Counties of New York
Major NY City (1)
What's the first major city you think of when you think of New York? Most of you would probably think New York City. Exactly what I thought of!
New York City is the most populous city in the United States, and it's got the name and fame to show it! As well as one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world. The city, not the state, exerts so much culture, music, finance, and much more! And I'm only talking about the city, people. OK, this state has it's own flag and seal.(below) Imagine what the state could do...
One of the reasons why NYC is so well known is because of many landmarks. One of the most famous ones, The Statue of Liberty, greeted millions of immigrants in America who were searching for a better life. This encouraged more people to come to New York, or more importantly, New York City.

Major NY City (2)
We can't forget New York's capital, Albany! This was picked capital for a reason, you know!
Albany is 136 miles north of NYC, but the city is booming too. It is part of the Capital District, with close ties with Troy, Schenectady, and Saratoga Springs.
Modern day Albany used to be a Dutch Trading Post named Fort Nassau in 1614 and Fort Orange in 1623, as well as the surrounding community of Beverwyck. The English decided to rename the town Albany because of James the II, Duke of Albany after they victored over New Netherlands in 1664.
NOw, Albany is the second oldest city in the state of New York.
